Myself and a photographer friend of mine got to talking about Black and White Wedding Photography the other day, she asked me, ‘have you ever shot and edited an entire wedding in just Black and White?’, to which I replied that I hadn’t, but it got me thinking about it and why we don’t see more weddings shot entirely in that gorgeous, emotive, black and white style!
The answer was actually quite simple though really and that was sometimes, as stunning as black and white wedding photography can be, sometimes, an image just screams out to be edited in colour! Colours at weddings are often used as a feature and so when they interplay with a contrasting background or help focus your attention, it just has to be colour!
But I also thought it would be a great idea to edit an entire selection from a wedding and see what they looked like in beautiful monochrome! So here below you can see a wedding we shot at the Double Tree in Leeds, edited entirely in Black and White.
